God’s Work, Our Hands

God’s Work Our Hands Sunday is September 24th starting at 12:30pm at the church.  This year our service activities include a foster care collection/assembly for young adults at Penn State and Kutztown Universities, a bicycle collection, quilt/blanket making, and making greeting cards. Below are the descriptions of these specific activities.

  • Our bicycle collection will benefit Community Bike Works, a local organization that has been teaching life lessons to kids through bicycles for 28 years https://communitybikeworks.org/ Their “Earn a Bike” program has engaged thousands of kids teaching them team work and perseverance.  Our collection will take place anytime on GWOH Sunday only and includes any and all bikes, parts, and bike accessories regardless of condition or size.  If you would like to make a donation, please drop it off anytime on GWOH Sunday at the grassy area above the upper parking lot (look for sign).
  • Quilt and Blanket Making – Holy Spirit’s Stitch and Chat will be tying quilt tops and fleece blankets for donation.                            .
  • Faith Formation Ministries will be creating snack bags and greetings to be distributed through Laundry on Linden Ministry (associated with St. Luke’s).
  • Rejoicing Spirits will be making greeting cards to be distributed to various groups to brighten people’s days.

Everyone is invited to wear a YELLOW GOLD T-shirt or purchase a God’s Work, our Hands t-shirt for $7.75 each at www.oldlutheran.com. It takes about a month to get them.
