Over 30 years ago, The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit began supporting the ministry of Linda and Dr. Mark Jacobson, ELCA missionaries in Arusha, Tanzania. Through the years our connections have expanded to include projects started and expanded by Mark and Linda and our brothers and sisters of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT). These projects and programs include the many ministries of Arusha Lutheran Medical Center (ALMC) and The Plaster House, a place where children with treatable disabilities are helped.
In 2012 and 2016, when members of our congregation visited Mark and Linda and witnessed what happens through ALMC, we also came to better appreciate the importance of education for our brothers and sisters. We became involved with the MAASAE Girls Lutheran Secondary School, the ALMC Nursing School and Operation Bootstrap Africa (OBA), a Lutheran ministry which provides funding for these and other educational programs in Tanzania and beyond. It is through OBA that we have been able to sponsor specific students.
Included in this website are updates on some of the ministries with which we are connected and for which we pray.
